Rev. Dr. J. Elton Wood went home to be with the Lord on June 22, 2023 at the age of 97. Dr. Wood, lovingly known by his family as “Papo,” was born on June 1, 1926 and lived a long and fulfilling life of obedience to the call of God. He served as a missionary in the Church of the Nazarene for 40 years in Cabo Verde and Brazil, alongside his wife of 73 years, Margaret. The legacy of Elton Wood’s life lives on through his family, and the ministry of pastors, leaders, teachers, and Nazarenes around the world. He is a hero of the faith. He is survived by his only daughter, Carol Wood Lima and her husband, Rev. Dr. Elizeu Lima, two grandchildren, Shayla Lima Miranda and Rev. Shane Lima and their spouses, John Miranda and Alynne Lima, and four great-grandchildren, Chelsey, Celynna, Caleb and Christian.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Tuesday, June 27th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with a funeral service starting at 7:00pm at the Ambassadors Church of the Nazarene, 194 Barton St,. Pawtucket, RI. Burial will begin at 10:00am on Wednesday June 28th DIRECTLY at Rumford Cemetery, Rumford, RI.
